We were orginally defined as a "boutique merchant bank", established in 1998 by all the directors of the Shipping and Offshore Division of Hambros Bank, Peter J. Donald (Head of Natwest Equity Capital Markets) and The Hon. Clare Hambro following the acquisition of Hambros Bank by Societe Generale.
We specialised in mergers and acquisitions as well as equity for shipping, transport, marine services, oilfield services and offshore drilling companies. We also have substantial experience in nuclear decommissioning.
Since our establishment and with real enjoyment, we have completed a wide range of transactions totaling over USD 12 billion in enterprise value.
The Company is a direct continuation of family merchant banking traditions going back over 200 years and the longstanding shipping and offshore corporate finance activities undertaken by the Directors whilst at Hambros Bank and NatWest Equity Capital Markets.
Peter Donald´s banking adventure started in 1969, Clare Hambro joined her family merchant Bank in 1979 and Eivind Rabben joined Hambros in 1983. With Peter and Eivind´s continous banking careers of 55 and 43 years respectively, they came to a point where is was natural to reduce their active business commitments and worldwide travel, but still keep an eye out for being useful together with old friends should something interesting come along.
