Richard Trythall
After completing a M.Sc in Marine Law and Policy at the University of Wales, Cardiff, Richard Trythall joined the London shipbrokers, Howard Houlder and Partners, in 1979 on the Pacific desk focusing on Far Eastern accounts. On returning to London in 1983 Richard was appointed as the Director in charge of the Pacific Department at HHP. In 1984 he joined the Atle Jebsen Group, shipowners and operators of dry bulk tonnage, with whom he stayed until 1997. His first posting was to Bergen for close to a year and then he moved to Tokyo to open an office in Japan for Jebsens. In 1988 he opened a Singapore office for Jebsens where he concentrated on developing a minibulker pool trading in the Asia and Australian markets. When he returned to London in 1994 to run the Jebsens UK operation he was promoted to membership of the Executive Committee of Jebsens S.A. and he was responsible for the activities of Jebsens Bulk Pool. The Bulk Pool was sold to Western Bulk Carriers in 1995 and he was actively involved in the negotiation, sale and transfer to WBC.
He joined the Bank as a Director in January 1998 and resigned in June 1998 to join Hambro Rabben. He left us in September 2005 to join the Shipbroker Howe Robinson.
